The Monks are a trio of musicians based out of Austin, TX. The band members consist of Chris (Drums & Vocals), Ray (Bass & Vocals), & Anthony (Guitar). Hailing from Oakland, San Antonio, & some log cabin in Canada, respectively, the musicians found each other as result of fate.

Originally a 2-piece band (Bass & Drums), there was a always room and a need for guitar, which is where the guys found someone who wanted to don the term ‘Monk’.

With influences of punk rock, psychedelia, funk, hard rock, and just a touch of metal, the sound that the Monks create together moves everyone (Band Disclaimer: The third-eye is always open for each show, if you catch our flow). Energy is what you are guaranteed to leave with after seeing a set.

The origins of the band name is a mystery. Although, it’s rumored that if you ask the either of the Monks, you’ll receive three different answers.
