Mahal Slick, the moniker of Dan Onal, is a hip hop/indie artist based in Chicago, Illinois. With heavy influences from Mac Miller, Denzel Curry, Nujabes, Shing02, Steve Lacy, and more, he makes music with sounds grounded in hip-hop rap, boom bap, R&B, soul, and sometimes even rock. Mahal makes sure to let his audience know that he is somebody with many hats, and that they can get different sounds out of him through his music. All while doing his best to make his music relatable and comforting in his lyrics. Coming up in the local Chicago music scene, he has opened shows for bigger Chicago artists cross the city at many different venues. All while regularly attending and performing at open mics and local shows around the city. With his latest EP “closed eyes & open ears” releasing late last year, Mahal Slick is excited to continue sharing his music with the world one show at a time.
