About the Band
cut the cord.
Dylan Samaniego started cut the cord. because he needed a different life. After years of writing and performing, he found himself confronting the same questions thatshape the project’s name: What do you hold onto? What do you finally let go of? Inspired by ameditation exercise during one of the lowest points in his life, “cut the cord.” became more thana phrase. It became a decision, a decision to separate from the people, habits, and thoughtpatterns that stood between who he was and who he wanted to become. That decision became music.Built around explosive guitars, massive hooks, and emotionally unfiltered songwriting, cut thecord. lives in the space where vulnerability collides with volume. The songs don’t pretend tohave all the answers, they present a lyrical bout with codependency, identity, anger, addiction, nostalgia, self-worth, and the uncomfortable work of rebuilding yourself after giving too much ofwho you are away. The debut EP begins intentionally. Opening track “(ctc.)” features a spoken-word collaborationwith Dylan’s actual therapist, establishing mental health not as a marketing angle, but as thefoundation of the project itself. From there, the record unfolds like the emotional aftermath of arelationship: the resentment of “Blush,” the aching nostalgia of “10th Avenue North,” and thecathartic release of “BENT!” Together, the four tracks trace the difficult process of findingyourself after believing you’d lost who you were.Recorded at Boardwalk Studios in South Florida with Jacob Bates of Dirty Rivals and BryanKuznitz of Fame on Fire, the EP balances the urgency of the pop-punk and alternative recordsthat shaped Dylan growing up with a perspective earned through experience rather thannostalgia. The influence of bands that first inspired him is undeniable but cut the cord. isn’tinterested in reliving another era. This EP is an effort in renewal and carrying emotional honestyinto the present.Onstage, the project embraces the same philosophy. Hand-painted shirts, stark black-and-whiteimagery, theatrical details, and an uncompromising live performance reflect a belief that musicshould make people feel seen before it asks them to sing along. At its heart, cut the cord. is an invitation. To confront what hurts. To let go of what no longerserves you. To recognize that healing isn’t linear, and that sometimes the loudest songs comefrom the quiet decision to begin again. For Dylan Samaniego, cut the cord. isn’t about walking away. It’s about becoming who you were supposed to be all along.
