Valeria Mason-Mihok
Singer/ songwriter and Violinist
Valeria Mason is a singer, violinist and songwriter. She was born in Mexico City and started her musical education at an early age with piano and violin. After moving to Los Angeles in 2008, she shifted gears and started writing her own music. Her style reflects a broad range of influences from flamenco, boleros and pop ballads to rumba, bossanova and salsa. She’s inspired by Cuban ensembles, flamenco guitarists and Mexican boleros, the music that she grew up with and accompanied in the years of playing with different orchestras, chamber music and jazz ensembles, even a legendary mexican rock band “La Castañeda”. In 2013 she released her first single “Peligro” and in 2015 her first full album “Un nuevo inicio” which was nominated in the first ballot of the Latin Grammys in three different categories: “Best new artist”, “Best Album of the Year” and “Best Pop Traditional Album”.
In 2016 she had the privilege to open for the legendary Sergio Mendes at the Celebration of 50 years of Brazil ‘66 at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. She continues to tell stories that resonate with her multicultural audience. Her music portrays a window of diversity, elegance, vulnerability and hope.
