About the Band
Thought Diet
Formed over the better part of a year spent experimenting, jamming, and forming a tight musical bond, Thought Diet is a band of five diverse musicians all with a shared dedication to bringing unique and creatively blended music to adventurous ears everywhere. This North Texas quintet draws upon a vast spectrum of musical styles to sculpt a mixture of original and cover songs that explore many levels of simplicity and complexity. Add to that an enthusiastic focus on incorporating extended segments of collective improvisation, and the result is a one-of-a-kind live experience that’s always evolving and always a booty-shaking good time!
Thought Diet is composed of Benjamin Benedict on drums; Ryan Deshotels on electric bass and vocals; Zach Robertson on electric guitar and vocals; Jordan Watson on electric guitar, mandolin, and vocals; and Dylan Smith on keyboards, synthesizers, auxiliary percussion, and vocals. With influences including rock, prog, funk, jazz, bluegrass, folk, pop, metal, ambient, classical, and much much more, the group’s sound can be described as a fusion of Frank Zappa, Phish, James Brown, Radiohead, and Mahavishnu Orchestra.
