Last Generation is an 8-piece band formed in Kansas City, Missouri, during the summer of 2023. Blending horns with groove-driven instrumentation, the group delivers a fresh take on original music that fuses indie, rock, and funk influences.

Alphabetically by last name, the members are: Jack Amberg, Austin Burnett, Leo Edwards, Carson Krop, Jackson Krop, Quinn McCurry, Jacob Rains, and Kylie Shuster. With trumpet, trombone, and saxophone leading the charge, their sound is filled with catchy, jazzy riffs and licks. Underneath the brass, spacey guitar textures and a groovy bass line create a dynamic foundation.

At the heart of the band is the commanding female vocal duet of Edwards and Shuster, whose performances elevate the group’s musicianship far beyond the role of traditional lead singers.

All eight members come from classical or jazz backgrounds, having participated in high school band or choir. That foundation gives their music a tight, polished edge—even when they lean into improvisation or experimentation.

Their debut EP is set to release in 2025, followed by a full-length album in 2026.
