Indie singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and recording engineer Larkn (Kristen Mercado), who studied at Berklee College of Music and lived and worked in Los Angeles as a musician, combines the best of her Michigan roots heavily steeped in country, folk and a mecca of child influences and training with her distinctive approach towards songwriting, which has been compared to Taylor Swift, Hozier and Colbie Caillat. Her music is introspective and naturally intimate, while also at times, refreshingly honest, upbeat and/or laid back.  A career-long independent artist, Larkn has been an advocate for entrepreneurship for songwriters and music artists, which the creation of her Ann Arbor-based record-label, Better From Here Music and presidency of Washtenaw Audio and Video Engineers Society at Washtenaw Community College. An all around, multi-talented human, Larkn plays piano, guitar and is an avid-certified Pro Tools engineer, composes, arranges, makes beats and produces music.
