About the Band
DA Bowen
Tulsa-based Odie & I has arrived on the scene and dimmed the lights on the way in. Mixing elements of blues, folk, and country, the band’s raw, guttural sounds of this band may haunt your soul or set it free. With the second album “Appalachian Blues” due out March 20, movement is on the horizon.
Inspired by both the culture and people of the mountains of central Appalachia, West Virginia is worn upon Odie & I’s sleeve. Literally. Long fascinated with art of storytelling, the story of the song takes center stage in each of Odie & I’s tunes. Generations of overcoming struggles with hard labor, poverty, addiction, and mental health combine with the sad traditional folk songs and murder ballads that echoed through the mountains to shape a songwriting perspective like no other. Known for the intensity of the live performance, you can’t help but wonder if the stories are true.
With a new record out this spring and more in the works, Odie & I’s voice is only beginning to be heard. Check out the music, catch a show, follow along, and join the story of a true storyteller.
